Long long time

Well, indeed this place has been left deserted for a super long time.

Yes, Happy 2010 to all first of all.

Nothing much has happened except the receiving of the shocking Christmas present NUS decided to give – well, let’s not talk about that tragic fact which cannot be changed now.

That is about all. School will start again in less than 1 week. Time to buck up and recoup the losses in this semester.

The End…

The End is here. In fact, have been enjoying it for the past 1 week or so.

I did say, I barely survive through the struggle during the first semester. No, not until the final results are out. Just hoping hard that the transcript would be a nice one for the first semester (no C’s, no D’s).

That is about all.

Updates…

It has been a long time since the last update. This page is almost dead with the huge pile of work stacking up, draining me physically and mentally.

And yes, 1 more mentally torture project down. It is no fun when your group mate is:

1) Someone who does not have responsibility to come for meetings on time – late for 4 hours, takes 2 hours for lunch, makes people stay up late waiting for meeting on MSN on a Saturday and eventually don’t turn up.
2) Someone who does not spare any thought for others – wanting to make major changes on the project (which means as good as redoing everything) at 12am on the eve of submission when there is ample time in the afternoon to do it after the document was sent out.

So in nett, such people has to blacklisted from future projects grouping.

term ends.

Well. 6 weeks has passed – i cannot imagine that too. It is fast!  My first term break in NUS ever – not so enjoyale one because of the trauma suffered from the term test held before the break.

New laptop before the start of the term break – Thinkpad T400. Yes, I am loving it. Nice and solid business laptop. It is going to be my work machine plus beloved baby for the next 3.5 years or in other words, seeing through my life in NUS.

Well. Failed my first term test in NUS – CS1102. Although marking was linient I agree, but I could not slap myself or hate myself more than seeing those mistakes I made are actually not because I do not know how to answer the question but, due to carless mistakes. Well, it is probably the aftermath of 2 years in NS + the lack of sleep just to try to understand the concepts covered again as much as I could.

Only hope would be MA1301 term test which I think, I made some careless mistakes too. This might be something very bad since the paper does not require you to have workings for the first 6 questions = 9 marks (right means right, wrong means wrong) – good if you are those who cheat, but bad if you hope that although your final answer is wrong, there is working marks to cut down on the damage.

Sigh. The term break would not be a week for me to slack but I guess is the week for me to catch up with as much things as possible.

Week 5

It does not look as if I have been NUS for 5 weeks. It is more like I have been here for 10 weeks or so.

Workload is horrendously huge + quizes coming one after another + Java labs which sends one down into the water for a good struggle – it is either you drown or you live.

So what is down so far, CS2250 group presentation, CS1102 Lab2/4, MA1301 Quiz 1. What is next, CS1102 Term Test, MA1301 Term Test, ET1000 Presentation, CS1105 Project Proposal and what else?

Can I have 48 hours 1 day?

the official start

Yes, school has offically started for close to 2 weeks.

Good or bad? Judge it for yourself.

First, CORS was pretty nice to me, I got my preferred modules to take this semester (including an almost free 4MCs module – FMC1202). Reality is cruel though. The need to take ET1000 English modules screwed the almost perfect timetable with 4 additional hours needed each week for a 0MC module and plus a bad start of not getting my preferred slot for the Maths module.

To make things worst, the system allocated still went ahead to allocate me my preferred slot for CS1105 Tutorial. Good to get my preferred slot for CS1105 but that means, NO LUNCH for Thursdays until 5pm. Oh yea, there is still a swapping exercise which yes, I did successfully got myself out of the now shitty time slot to a disastrous slot, Thursday, 5-6pm.

Now my timetable looks clean on Mondays, many blanks on Tuesdays (some Tuesdays lessons ends 6pm), empty on Wednesday and super packed for both Thursdays and Fridays.

Well well well. Live it up, ultimately, this timetable will last for 3 months before the next change.

1 month worth of updates…

Wow. I did not realise that this place has been left unattended for close to 1 month.

Well well well. The clock is ticking near the start of a new chapter of my life – a life as a freshman in NUS. In the past 1 month, was QET, Bangkok trip right after QET, matriculation, QET results and CORS bidding today.

Nothing beats failing QET with Band 3 and results being held back from release from 12pm to 3pm on 29th July 09.

CORS was a pain process. Planning the time table was just as bad with modules clashing with each other either for lectures or final examinations. So I guess, the time table was screwed + the need to do QET.

I just hope that the timetable I get is what I planned initially – no more Monday blues!

holiday = end

28 June 2009 to 01 July 2009 – Macau/Hong Kong.

It was a really good 4 day break after 2 years of NS life. 1st trip as an NSMan, 1st trip as a civilian after 2 years, 1st trip which requires a Exit Permit.

1st day was spent in Macau, visiting casinos (what a weird thing to do but since there is no other activities to embark on a rainy day >_<). Stay was at Venetian Macau.

2nd day onwards was spent in Hong Kong itself. Nothing much there in Hong Kong. Many things has changed for the better I feel ever since my last visit there 4.5 years ago. It was a 75:25 itinerary – 75% shopping, 25% sight seeing. Shopping was at the usual few spots, Wan Chai, Shum Sui Po and Mong Kok. Sight seeing was at Ngong Ping 360.

So, yes. That is the end of the whole break. Time to gear up and prepare for school reopening 1 month from now.
